Brickworks has added a new “village” to their Saturday farmer’s market. On Saturdays from 10:00am to 7:00pm, you will find a cute outside area with heating lamps, fire pits surrounded by Muskoka chairs, music, containers with various vendors, food trucks with local and seasonal ingredients, and outdoor activities throughout the Evergreen Brickworks.
I don’t like the cold enough to linger in this village, but I have walked through, perused some of the vendors’ containers, and tried some of the food. The winter village is a very cozy area that is definitely worth visiting.
The available food is: Heirloom food truck, Original Chimneys, J.K. Frites, Pimenton, TC’s Tibetan Momos, La Bréhandaise Catering, Tony’s Cheese, Earth and City, Molly B’s Gluten Free Kitchen.
I tried Original Chimney’s because it reminded me of a Beavertale (a great Canadian treat that I haven’t had in a while). I almost didn’t get close to the Chimney’s truck because Nutella was on the ingredient list (I tend to question establishments that use Nutella). That said, I was with my cousins and we asked questions about the ingredients in the chimney cake. We were happy with their answers and decided to try one. It was great (definitely like a less greasy Beavertale using better ingredients). My only advice is that they do away with the Nutella. Chimney’s makes their own cream cheese, so why not make their own hazelnut spread…or better yet, sunflower seeds with cacao and make it a nut safe truck!
